Canyon Angon
The Angon canyon and waterfall descent is located at Angon in Haute-Savoie, near Lake Annecy and 30 minutes from Albertville. This is not only a very challenging canyoning trip, but also a technical and vertiginous canyoning descent with its large vertical abseils. This canyon is open to adults and teenagers aged 14 and over who have already done abseiling, but who are also in very good physical condition.
Description of the Angon canyon very challenging
Angon very challenging
First of all, there’s a 45-minute approach walk that winds its way up 200m of ascent. The start is halfway up the Angon waterfall, with a superb view over Lake Annecy.
Very challenging Angon canyon, “upper” section
Canyon “upper” section
Then comes the first part of the canyoning section, which is highly technical and vertiginous. This is the ‘high’ part of the canyon. It begins directly with a compulsory 30-metre vertical abseil down the Angon waterfall. This is followed by a 25-metre spider abseil (abseiling into the void without touching the wall). It is strongly recommended that you have already abseiled and are not prone to vertigo. After that, there’s a succession of jumps and slides interspersed with walks and smaller abseils. Finally, there is a beautiful, narrow canyon section carved out of fine grey limestone.
Very challenging Angon canyon, “lower” section
Canyon “lower” section
After that, the second part of the canyon begins, which is less technical and vertiginous. This is the “lower” part of the canyon. It begins at a passage known as “the letterbox”. This is also the start of the “discovery” part of the Angon canyon. This part of the descent also includes 3 compulsory abseils (the highest of which is around twenty metres high). It is also interspersed with walks, jumps and optional slides.
End of the canyon
Finally, there’s a 15-minute walk back along a path that climbs up and then drops back down to the car park.
In conclusion, the descent of the very challenging Angon canyon represents a beautiful sequence that is as technical as it is sporty. It’s also a committed canyoning trip in a wild, green environment that will keep you on the edge of your seat right to the end. This canyon is also more technical and more vertiginous than the very challenging Montmin canyon. For this canyon descent, we only take a maximum of 8 people per group.

Canyoning outdoor activity
First of all, canyoning is an outdoor sporting activity with no need for a boat. It involves walking, swimming and crossing obstacles in different ways, either by jumping, sliding, abseiling. It is therefore essential to know how to swim.
Secondly, the approach, descent and return times are given as a guide only, and may vary according to weather conditions, how often the canyon is used and the level of the group.
Please note that canyoning is not recommended for people who are sensitive to vertigo or have weak backs. So please, don’t force anyone to come. It is OBLIGATORY to inform us of any physical or mental handicap when you make your reservation, just as it is required to inform the guide before your departure in canyon.
